Georgia sweet onions in the ground

Posted 3/5/2010 11:48am by Steve & Loretta Esh.

This week we have been busy planting onions and tending to the strawberries. The company that laid the plastic last year for the strawberries did a less than ideal job. Some of the plastic did not lay tight against the soil which caused the wind to get underneath the plastic. This caused the plastic to flap loose and break of strawberry leaves. We lost several thousand plants. So to use up the empty spaces, we planted onions. The experts say onions are companion plants to strawberries. So we will see how this works this year. They should be extra sweet with the calcium added for the strawberries.
